Not what I expected
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
This book is basically a collection of old pictures, and old routines from Muscle & Fitness magazines. I noticed several old photos from my past issues. Nothing new in the book. Totally not what I expected. Nothing new to me.
A book of Exercises
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
What can I say? It is a book of exercises. No single book in itself is the total answer to everything. The book is just another piece of my education. I saw this book in a local store and waited until I need a small purchase to total free shipping.
I wanted to broaden my workout to confuse my muscles. It gave me what I wanted. It is probably best for someone with weights, dumbbells, cables, Smith, in their basement gym. However, someone with less can still utilize it to a more limited extent.
Since this is basically a reference book, I would like a better index. Other than that, it is good.
disapointed
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I wasnt impressed with this book. The pictures were great but the content wasnt anything special. Very basic exercises, okay for beginners. They workouts were just pages from various magazine issues all put together in a book.
Excellent
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Outstanding book. I have seen huge gains in my strength and mass through the full-body workout section. Pictures make it simple for an army guy like me.
101 workouts
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
An excelent book , covers all workouts , great pictures and easy to follow descriptions of how to do the exercises. Also covers the correct foods and eating plan. These are the three essentials, exercise, food and eating plan. Leave any one out and the other two just won’t work…
Awesome Gym-Bible. Excellent Resource for Ideas!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Albeit not for a new gym member, this book is absolutely phenomenal for ideas on how to mix up your workout. Lots of new moves you hadn’t thought of, to hit that muscle a new way. I didn’t read much of the text, since that’s not what I bought the book for – the pictures and workout ideas are organized well, and gave me the motivation to go all out next time. True – the models look roided out, but that’s typical of Muscle & Fitness (Ronnie Coleman, Jay Cutler, etc…).
Great workout book
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
It’s so perfect. All the exercises i need to target my problem areas are all listed in one book. No more guessing. Love it.
Slightly above average
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I looked through this entire book while at a bookstore recently and it is better than average.
Pros:
-101 exercises
-FULL COLOR photos / high grade paper
-Fairly comprehendible
-Shows starting and ending positions on most exercises
Cons:
-Everyone in this book appears to be on steroids, this may be intimidating to new people
-The nutrition and supplement sections are severely lacking
-Not all the exercises have a starting and ending position. Someone new to working out would have a hell of a time figuring out how to properly do a cable crunch based on the description and one picture.
-Some of the descriptions are lacking a bit
In conclusion this is a good reference guide for a fitness enthusiast, but I wouldn’t recommend this to someone without general knowledge. The full color photos make this stick out from other books and it’s relatively small (so it’s easy to take to the gym). I’ll buy this when it goes down in price.
Great “Gym Bible” for All Levels
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This book really aided in my muscle gain. I saw drastic improvements in my core strength & my endurance. Great nutrition advice section also. 101 Workouts does not; however give starting & ending points, & can become a game of find the workout description by asking the reader to flip to a previous page, to see full-description.
One of the Best!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This has to be one of the best exercise books I have purchased. It has easy to follow pictures along with exercise routines at the back that make it easy for anyone to begin working with weights or to improve on their current routine. A must have in your library!
