Does it feel as if you re fighting your body to lose even one pound or just to maintain your current weight? Respected health and wellness expert and bestselling author Jillian Michaels has been there, too. So she consulted top experts in the field of metabolism and learned that she d inadvertently been abusing her endocrine system for years. After fixing her own metabolism, she chose to share what she learned by devising this simple, 3-phase plot that engages all the weight-loss hormones (including the friendly HGH, testosterone, DHEA; and the not-so-friendly: insulin, cortisol, and excess estrogen).

In Master Your Metabolism, learn how to:
REMOVE anti-nutrients from your diet
RESTORE foods that speak directly to stout-burning genes
REBALANCE energy and your hormones for effortless weight loss

Michaels offers a wealth of information throughout, including: shopping lists and online shopping resources, hormone-trigger food charts, how to eat power nutrient foods on a budget, smart strategies for eating out, quick and simple recipes, as well as mini-programs for addressing PMS, andropause, metabolic syndrome, PCOS, and menopause. more info

Inspiring, and bottom line, she does not regurgitate the same ancient stuff at us. I have 3 of her books (BUY “MASTER YOUR METABOLISM”!!!!! IT CHANGED MY LIFE!!! 40 lbs dropped in 4 months through her solid advice and my hard work…but the work was NOT hard once I accepted it is just my lifestyle now and absorbed and utilized her solid advice. NO fads, no gimmicks, no “legal speed” in Hydroxy-whatever or pills that make you soil yourself if you eat stout!)

I find reading her books nearly as if we are just having a conversation–and I am listening FOR ONCE and letting it sink in, and applying it in every aspect of my life. I also have “Hot Bod in a Box” which is basically “Winning by Losing” on index cards–Nice concept but too time consuming/complicated to re-arrange every workout.

Seriously, “Master Your Metabolism”—read it and do it for yourself. Ignore the cheesy tag line the publishers gave it about “3 Diet Secrets for a hot and Healthy Body.” Don’t let it dissuade you! It is about sooo much more–and a fantastic reference for men, as well as women. It is so hard to get men to acknowledge the word hormone as applicable to both genders!! :o $

I hope this will reach SOMEONE who needs just that one bit of encouragement. I hope I can help just one person :o ) I hope to be the one to push you over the edge into finding a healthy new you deep inside. You will like yourself even more when you get to the root of why you have undermined your health in one form or another. ADVENTURES ARE OUT THERE, what are you waiting for???? :o )

Skip over this one…. It is fluffed up and offers more info than needed. The Metabolism Miracle or South Beach Diet are two better choices.

This book left me feeling overwhelmed! I devoured the book and loved learning all she had to offer. I reckon she’s right and would LOVE to do something about it. But, money is tight…very tight. The thought of switching to an organic lifestyle is not only overwhelming, but impossible at this point and time. I will just have to do what I can, which is hit more Farmer’s Markets, but in my area they are only around a few months a year. Anway…all in all, it is a GREAT book! I just wish I had more money so I could do it ALL and do it right! If anyone has any thoughts/suggestions on how to live organically, on a budget, I’d like to hear it!

Tons of fantastic information that makes sense. Some of the suggestions would be hard and expensive to accomplish, but all in all it is a excellent book with fantastic info

This book really opened my eyes. Very informative….I was not one to buy organics EVER. After reading her book and learning about the damaging pesticides and additives, I am looking for organic and reading marks more than I ever have. Brilliant book, highly recommend it!

Too much info all at once.

I got this book because of all of the success of “The Largest Loser” and watching Jillian’s training techniques. The book tries to give you TONS of information all at once. It is like reading a textbook. It is not fascinating to read, and doesn’t engage the reader. I am passionate about nutrition and health and have ALOT of books on the subject, that I glide through reading. This was not one of them. (I know this, because I place the book down shortly after I recieved it and haven’t picked it back up yet!). This is very unusual for me. When I get a new health book or magazine, I’m often so excited about it, I read the whole thing in a day or two. Not so with this one. Jillian has very excellent thoughts, recommendations and dietary plans, it just would have been better in a more “reader friendly” format. There is so much info there at once, you get overwhelmed.

I can’t say enough positive about this book. Jillian has covered just about everything we need to know about healthy eating. It is step by step info that we can incorporate into our diet. My husband and I are now shopping twice a month at Trader Joe’s (we live about 40 min away). I now buy as many organic foods as possible. If I can’t, I don’t sweat over it, but if it’s available and I can afford it, I buy it. It is so right that organic non-stout milk tastes so much better than non-organic. I can now drink a glass of milk and delight in it! My book is so marked up and highlighted. I wish everyone would at least read what she has to say, and as she says in the intro, you can do all of it, some of it, or none of it, but at least you are informed.

This book is more hype to promote her products. The “diet” is very hard to follow, the only way to complete the program is to sign-up for the “free” trial, that ends up costing 4 or 5 a week, billed quarterly.

While the information is excellent, this is just another “expert” scam. The only reckon I lost was $$$.

Jillian Michaels needs to get into the real world. People work, sit at desks all day and have serious budget issues. In order to follow her meal plot you need to be someone who stays at home and have no budget issues. I returned the book because I could not do her meal plot. I am interested in eating more organics and always try to eat as healthy as I can. If we could get people to demand more organically grown food maybe the price would go down and we would all be in better health and better shape. The people in the real world need to know how to shop better for healthy food and you started the education process with this book but if it is impossible for the masses to follow a plot then it fails to be useful. Jillian come to the real world and do some real world makeovers with realistic meal plans. What you have to say is very very vital.

I felt that the info was repeated and repeated. Essentially, going organic-but when you live in an area where that is not possible-hard to do. Dissapointed that there were few recipies. Like the largest loser, but will not buy another book from Jillian. Need a book for single people who can’t cook an entree for 6-8!

Vendor was very reasonable on the discount price. Shipment arrived on time and well packaged. Jillian’s book serves as a excellent reference for dieting rules, but her writing style leaves a lot to be desired.

There’s simply too much incorrect information in this book to give it an brilliant review. For instance, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is listed as a hereditary disorder when it’s an autoimmune condition. Hormones are indeed tough business and Jillian Michaels doesn’t have the background to be writing about them.

    Full of Helpful Information

I bought this book to help know what I need to do—outside of exercise—to live a healthier life.

    This book did not disappoint.

It contained some of the “standard” information (don’t skip breakfast EVER, do not eat carbs before bed, etc), but it went farther than that and clarified how our health is affected by our environment (things we can and can’t control). Like, for instance, it was quite a shock to find out that the preservative used on our vegetables during transit (argon gas) is also used to euthanize dogs. Very unsettling.

The book also clarified how to read the “numbers” on our vegetable and fruit stickers in order to tell which vegetables are conventionally grown, organically grown or genetically engineered. I also learned that by cooking broccoli in the microwave instead of on the stove, 90% of the Vitamin C will be retained.

This is just a small part of the info in the book. At times, yes, the book seems to get “too organically-minded” for my own taste, but overall the book offers some eye-opening information about making healthier choices, and that was all I wanted to start with.

I reckon everyone should read this book. The amount of toxins we pour into our bodies every day is pathetic. No wonder society is sick and stout!
