THIS PROGRAM KICKS BUTT!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
By reading the reviews, most people have covered what the book is all about. I just wanted to make a review about the circuits and exercise program of this book. I am a huge Julian fan and it inspires me to follow a program from a trainer that looks incredible! I am on day 17 of the program, and each and every week is hard. The quick pace of the circuits give me a fantastic cardio workout! Not to mention that I am so sore every week! The exercises are intermediate to advanced, and I suggest that you prepare yourself for a hard-core workout! Beginners can surely get to that stage once you start the program and should not be intimidated. This program will make you feel inspired, strong, determined and the results you want can be attainable if you follow this book to the “T”. I recommend you buy this book if your looking for something different or need to get over that plateau. It’s so worth it!
Excellent Work out plot

I delight in the Jillian Michaels videos. I bought the book to help me get into a plot. The knowledge is provided to you and you are the one that will either do something with it or not. It is an simple plot to follow and like I said if you are willing to follow it I believe it works. I have loved the book very much.
Stronger and sexier…

Jillian Michaels has tailored a workout and diet plot that’s very simple to follow. This is one plot that I will definately continue to follow. Fantastic read.

It was useless to me. Most of the exercises are not illustrated..hence the potential for injury is high!! It rambles a lot…the author’s pep talk would be appropriate in a gym, not in a book.
I have seen her with largest loser. She seems ok. She has certainly performed well in that field. She is not book material. Sorry.
Alright

This is okay. Its for people who want to lose maybe 10 lbs and just get shredded or in better shape. I needed to lose more weight than this so it didnt really apply to me. I have tried a lot diets but this is one I particularly didnt like…not because I was hungry. I just felt that it was too extreme for me. It wasnt super hard to follow although it was a lot of organic foods which can get pricey. My body just couldnt adjust.
I would say I could sum up most diets by saying follow a low carb, low stout, low calorie diet. 4-6 SMALL meals a day. And work out about 5 hours a week. I didnt need this book to tell me everything dieters already know.
Fantastic for Beginners

I haven’t started the program yet but from what I’ve read so far I know it’ll be just what I need to make huge changes for my own health.

I bought this book after seeing a girl in the gym working out harder than anyone else. She told me she was following Making the Cut so I had to pick it up. I’ve been doing the routines for a month and have seen incredible results. The thoughts for food are helpful, and the workouts are realistic.
Losing that last 10lbs of BODY FAT!

I see a lot of similarities in her book to Atkins and South Beach as far as the diet. For me I had a hard time really being able to figure out what Metabolic Type I am but at age 49 I do know what foods I can and cannot eat and Milk is a huge no, no for me! I simply feel better and have more energy on a low carb diet. My problem is the stout and calorie consumption. Many of the diet suggestions even in the Quick Oxidizer menus do not account for allergies or foods people just cannot or do not eat. Also different carb control items she suggested I was not able to find in my area supermarkets! Atkins to me still has always been the best tasting items and NO SUGAR which is my largest enemy.
As far as the workout is concerned DO NOT EVEN BUY THIS BOOK if you have more than 20lbs to lose and you are not familiar with the GYM! She herself says this at the beginning of the book because the workout is intense. But again she does not make allowance for injuries but just says suck it up! Unfortunately that is not a excellent attitude in the gym as that can discourage you from even trying at all if you have injuries. I myself have knee pain from years of aerobics and a ski accident so the jumping activities are out but I DO LIKE the majority of the workouts.
Bottom line you must SWEAT if you want to lose body stout. This book has helped me reduce my workout into a smaller amount of time and concentrate on problem areas and give me some fresh new workout routines which I was in need of. The sad part about the book as well is the fact that the circuits listed for each day consist of 3 to 5 exercises that you either should already know or have to go to the back of the book and learn. There is an simple reference guide for these but I find it time consuming to navigate this book for the gym. What I did was write the page # next to each exercise myself to make it simpler to find the exact workout quickly until I got familiar with the moves something I reckon would have been more practical to do at printing. I also had my husband go through the entire workout samples so we could get the techniques and form down and he too loved and incorporated some of them into his stale routine.
Bottom line as she says you have to SWEAT to lose that last 10-20lbs and you have to have just the right ratio of nutrition for you body a struggle for us all. For me Low Carb works best and NO SUGAR!!! That was the toughest fight but has reaped the largest rewards. Eating that exact amount for your body type requires writing it all down as she and many others suggest and that too is HARD for me. But knowing where you are and where you want to be requires that! The Goodbye Photos, Body Stout Analysis, Measurements, Fitness Tests and sticking to your Magic # your BMR is excellent concise information if you previously have been unaware of how to do this. It will help you see exactly where you are. Too as a final boost the gray boxes “Mind over Matter” are really nice. They are filled with pointers and exercises to help keep your mind focused, your motivation high and your goals in sight. After all it is your mind that directs and drives everything you do as shes says. So get it on your side…
Fantastic Recipes
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is a fantastic book. Her advice is direct and not fluffy. But most of all there is a small recipe section and the recipes are fantastic. Healthy dishes, that use common kitchen ingredients. Fresh vegetable, but not out of season or costly items. I wish she would write a cookbook.
Fantastic book for a healthy body

This book is fantastic. It educates you on how and what to eat without a lot of theory. As Jillian states throughout the book, she won’t bore you with a bunch of explanations, just take for granted she knows what she is doing. But, the workouts are tough if you are not fit and they work better if you are at a gym because you need to use some gym equipment. If you are not signed in a gym, you would rather use her hot bod cards which are fantastic as well, but more simple.
Finally lost the weight.

I just finished my 30 days and all I can say is that I am so pleased I bought this book! I lost a total of 9 pounds in the thirty days and my muscle mass has increased a ton.
For people who are not interested in the recipes: Neither was I. There were only a few recipes that I was really willing to eat, but I still managed. I varied those few meals with meals that I made that had a similar carb, protein, stout, calorie, and sodium count. I even ate out a few times, I just made sure to look up nutritional information for each restaurant before going.
For those without a home gym: I don’t have access to one either. For each exercise that required gym equipment, I simply improvised. I was able to work out each muscle that the equipment would have worked out by just using dumbbells. Just search for variations online prior to beginning the workouts. So, if you don’t have a gym, no worries! I don’t have a treadmill either, so for the running parts I just jogged in place and for the incline exercises I just jogged up and down steps. I do suggest getting a body ball, but, as I don’t reckon improvising for those exercises would be as simple.
I am so thrilled that I found this book. It helped me not only lose the weight I have been trying to lose for so long, but it also helped change my habits. I kicked my coffee addiction with this book, as caffeine is a huge no no with the diet. I also learned how to track what I eat and just how many calories were in all the foods I was eating before!
I have reached my 30 days but I am sticking with it. I started the workouts over starting with day 15 and I plot on sticking to the diet plot as well. Who knows, in 30 more days, maybe I will lose 9 more pounds!
For anyone who feels they just can’t commit for 30 days, all I can say is JUST DO IT! IT may sound silly, but if I can do it, so can you. It is so completely worth it.
Awesome!!!!!

This book is for anyone that is already fit, but wants an extra challenge. I completed the 30 days and it really cut my arms, thighs, butt and last but not least I got flat sexy abs. Just reckon yourself stronger and leaner in 30 days guaranteed.
Awesome book, except for some annoying errors
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I like this book. After looking over a copy from the library, I bought my own copy and loved the work outs. I didn’t do the diet because I don’t have the time, plus I was more interested in the workouts to add some variety to my workouts. The workouts are hard, but awesome. You will get stronger in the 30 days (and plot on being sore a lot!). This book toned me up so much! I was just annoyed at the errors made in the workout section of the book. For example, why does it tell you on some exercises about 3 sets, when she says you only need to do 2 sets? Or on the W Shoulder Press with Leg Extention – she says do 10 reps on each arm? Both arms are used at the same time – I reckon it should read 10 reps on each leg. There were lots of these errors, which irritated me, especially in the middle of a workout! Even if you can’t do all of the reps she questions you to at the beginning, you will increase your own ability at the end of the 30 days. I am way more tone and lost some stout – not so much pounds because I reckon I gained muscle. This is a kick [...] exercise program, loved it, and I feel sorry for the contestants on the Largest Loser after going through Jillian’s workout (I am kidding about feeling sorry for them – but I can know their pain after being so sore)!
Incredible Fitness Resource; the best

This book contains an eating plot with recipes that have nutritional data, workout plans that you can copy and place in your gym or take with you.
The recipes are things you are likely to want to eat; my only complaint is that for a busy schedule, the eating plot requires a lot of cooking (even though there are shopping lists) but with some plotting, you can make a low carb, low cal Roast Beef and Cream Cheese wrap to take with you for work. The foods are things most people want to eat (Jambalaya, Peruvian Beef Kabobs, shrimp, brocolli and sun-dried tomato with pasta.)
The workouts include machines, weights and physio ball; most could be done at home with no machines.
There is a membership available at a website, and a workout dvd 30 Day Shred.
What more do you need? This is brilliant quality and probably the least-silly fitness plot out there.
Loved It!!

Working on the 30 day plot and like it so far!! The diet is a small trickier/fancier than i would like as i don’t want to fool with alot of cooking so I just simplify that part (ie when it calls for a chicken dish I just place a piece of chicken on the foreman grill with a small garlic salt.) Lovin’ the exercise part!Changing things up in my exercise routine is a excellent thing for me it keeps me from getting borted and I’m already seeing some results!
