This book is awesome
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This book is fantastic. It has so much information on ways to heal, protect and sustain your body naturally. You don’t have to be on his diet plot for them to work either. A must have for anyone who wants the real scoop on homeopathic healing.
Helped my allegies and asthma
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Because of my allergies and asthma, I was on Zyrtec, Advair, and had to carry an albuterol inhaler everywhere I went. I did the Atkin’s diet some years ago and it worked extremely well for me. After seeing this book somewhere I chose to give it a try.
After reading this book I thought Dr. Atikin’s had lost it this time. There are a lot of vitamins he wants you to take. Plus he started selling his own line of products so I thought “ahhh, that’s why.” I talked to my doctor about it and he said it wouldn’t work, you would just be wasting money because your body will piss it all away (literally). I was spending $150 a month on medications (Zyrtec was not OTC at the time), the vitamins were about $20. His diet worked so well for me though so I thought I’d give it a try.
Well, I tried it, and it worked. I don’t have as much distress breathing, and I didn’t need to take the medications anymore. Rarely I will have to use an albuterol inhaler. Placebo effect? Maybe, but I was saving $150 a month on medications even though I was “wasting” $20 on vitamins.
Must have for your health library
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is a must for anyones health library. Not too complicated and an simple read. Very helpful for many problems any person may have.
Everyone should read this book!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This information on nutrition, like in all of Dr. Atkins’ books, is well researched and well written. It’s simple to know and enables the reader to identify a condition then follow the instructions to alleviate it.
We all know now that Atkins has been on the right track all along, but I had no thought how much of a role nutrition played until I took advantage of the research and resolved a long standing debilitating physical problem of my own.
Thank you Dr. Atkins!
No more prescripton antidepressants
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I was skeptical that simply taking supplements would treat my SEVERE depression, but the prescription drugs had too many side effects and were becoming less and less effective with time. With my Dr’s approval, I slowly weaned myself off prescription antidepressants as I jumped right into Dr. Atkin’s recommendations for anxiety and depression. I’m still shocked to tell you – I am completely drug free, have been for several months and I am feeling fantastic! I credited this man with giving me a part of my life back. Thank you, Dr. Atkins.
Works without fail
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
First thing I do whenever my health isn’t what I want it to be is look up what vitamins Dr. Atkins recommends and it what dosages.
It’s never failed me. May not work as quickly as prescribed medication, but in the end has the same effect and a lot healthier.
Cannot recommend this book more strongly.
Remarkable book
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
In my sincerest opinion this book is the best book of its kind ever. Also, this book is Atkins’ best work of his life, not even his well-known diet.
You will appreciate his integrative aproach: natural therapies first, then if needed- medications. It is not about notion that vitamins and minerals in and pharmaceuticals- out. No, his viewpoint is objective and measured. For example, he lack’s outrageous claims about supplements that many authors do: say, he does not claim that selenium will prevent you from getting cancer, he does not claim that boron will cause your libido shoot through the roof. No. Atkins is not worried to admit that this or that supplement or natural substance is lacking evidence to support well loved (but incorrect) opinion.
You will appreciate his systemic approach. Meaning that when he talks about one supplement, say copper, he also mentions its relationship with zinc. Also, he mentions numerous times that one if taking therapeutical dose of one b vitamin, he has to take higher dose of all b vitamins.
You will aslo appreciate his courage and willingness to go against the grain of conventional medical wisdom. He backs it up with sources and his practice of many years.
Finally, when you end this book, you will know that you spent your money well. I promise you will come back to this book many many times (provided you are open minded).
Right on Em and Em!! (see reviews)

I couldn’t have said it better. Read Em and Em’s review. I agree whole heartedly!!
This book is still the best one out there….
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I am a professional who has been reading and studying the field of supplements. This book is the best that I have come across. Not only is it the most complete, but the supplements in it were used in Dr. Atkin’s clinical practice. This is were the rubber hits the road, and the concrete real life information that gives this book credibility. If I were to buy only one book on this subject, it would be this one, even over the encycolpedia type books.
Brilliant content, but disregard the conspiracy theory
Otherwise, the book is brilliant.
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This book has useful and helpful information about vitamins, minerals, amino acids and their role in the body. I couldn’t be more pleased with the technical part, very well documented. But, a huge con of this book is Dr. Atkins’ huge ego and conspiracy theories. He nearly claims that he started the vitamin hype and the nutrition-based approach to medicine. We know this is not right. Many others deserve so much more credit. Also, he goes down a path of silly and unfounded arguments about how the government is evil and doesn’t want to raise the RDA of certain nutrients. This is silly. The RDA should be as low as it can be. Otherwise food manufacturers would be adding tons of unnecessary vitamins to food, more than the bare minimum to just prevent diseases. People would feel compelled to take mega doses of vitamins without proper information about them. It’s up to us to raise our intake if we want to. RDA is not supposed to be the optimum amount for everyone, just the minimum to prevent simple deficiencies that could cause diseases. Also, he uses intricate reasoning to arrive at conclusions that vitamins are not more widespread because food manufacturers lobby against them. One could argue the opposite, that vitamins are becoming widespread because their manufacturers are lobbying for people to accept them. There’s always a silly conspiracy theory for any subject. Dr. Atkins chose an absurd one and he stuck to it throughout his book. I suggest the reader takes his non-medical opinions (politics, RDA, etc) with a grain of salt. But not too much salt, because sodium is terrible for you
Useful experience and knowledge
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Prior to buy, I was concerned this might be too “outdated” to be useful. I was incorrect. Dr. Atkins was a brilliant man who shares in a personable way what is safe and what isn’t–based on years of clinical practice, as well as personal study. Dr. Atkins years of experience can help you implement the plot that is going to work best for you far more quickly than starting from scratch. Dr. Atkins even shares a few pit falls to watch out for along the way, again from experience on a large client base over a number of years of practice. After owning this book for some time, I find the detailed INDEX in the back of the book is most helpful to look up that forgotten nugget.
Excellent Supplement Information
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This book covers uses for various supplements that are not always covered by other vitamin books.
The information is very helpful, but a few things are a small out of date, mostly because of what was or wasn’t available when the book was written.
Overall, a excellent addition to your nutrition library if you’re interested in using supplements or knowing more about what certain nutrients do.
60,000 Patients Can’t Be Incorrect!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Eleven years after it was first published, “Vita-Nutrient Solution” is still the BEST book ever written for the public about nutritional supplements.
You will find “real world”, proven effective solutions to prevent & treat various forms of heart disease, diabetes, vision disorders, cancer, neurological disorders, joint & bone issues, digestive system impairments, prostate enlargement, women’s life-cycle issues…and so much more.
Dr. Atkins’ proved beyond any doubt that the right nutritional supplements, taken at the right dosages, and in the right combinations DO indeed help prevent, slow the progression of and may even reverse so many life-destroying and life-impairing diseases that modern medicine is NOT doing a excellent job of preventing / treating.
Having treated 60,000 patients under “real world” conditions, Dr Atkins’ proved beyond doubt that the right supplements DO work, and are extremely safe.
“Vita-Nutrient Solution – Nature’s Answer to Drugs” shows you how to find effective NATURAL and safe alternatives to cholesterol-lowering, blood pressure-reducing and anti-blood clotting medicines to prevent & control heart disease that are not only free of side effects – they have “side benefits” (they do many other excellent things for your health).
You will learn how specific vitamins, minerals and certain herbs can control type 2 diabetes and diabetes-related complications.
Learn which nutrients can help slow the progression of, and even reverse macular degeneration and cataracts.
Find out which nutrients do indeed help prevent, slow the progression of, and may even reverse Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s diseases, stroke, ALS and other horrific brain disorders.
And this is only the proverbial “tip of the iceberg”.
I owned / managed vitamin stores. I used this book more than any other as a reference source to help customers find the right combination, dosages and forms of supplements to help them with their specific health concerns.
And many times, customers came back with their “before and after” lab test results that clearly showed the supplement(s) did what Dr. Atkins’ said they would do.
Some of the information may be “outdated” by today’s standards, thanks to advances in modern science, but 90% of the information is timeless.
This book may very well save your life or that of someone you like. At the very least, it will help you and your loved ones live a healthier, more pleased and more rewarding life.
I will ALWAYS treasure and value “Vita-Nutrient Solution – Nature’s Answer to Drugs”…and so will you.
Very helpful.

This book is fantastic and anyone interested in thier health should have it. I have been suffering from Candida(yeast overgrowth) and chronic gastritis for a year and the suggestions in the book are really helping me. My only complaint is that Dr. Atkins admits many M.D.s wont be receptive to his thoughts but does not tell the reader that there are other health practioners who most likely will be. Naturopathic doctors(licensed in many states), certified nutritionists, chiropracters, and osteopathic doctors to name a few are often able and willing to reccomend
vitamin, mineral, herbal ect. ect. Peace and best wishes to anyone with a health problem and be in charge of your own health care!!
If you buy only one book on supplements
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is an brilliant reference book on nutritional supplements. Far superior to any I have ever read. Page for page, you get relevant, researched information.
