Brilliant book for Atkins followers
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I found this to be chock full of tasty recipes that have the added benefit of being low in carbohydrates. My husband and I look forward to which one I will try next, and thus far each one has turned out tasty. Not for the Atkins skeptic as many of the recipes use sinfully rich ingredients such as heavy cream…as for everyone else, you will surely delight in. Bon appetit!
Since I have been on this diet, all the cravings for junk food have gone. I was someone who lived for sugar and now I do not want any of it. I use to crave coffee in the morning as well but realized I didn’t want that wired up feeling & acid stomach. I switched over to a caffeine-free coffee substitute made from soyabeans I found on the net at www.
S o y c o f f e e.c om. It so simple for someone to tell you to eat less, but if you are craving terrible foods, eventually you will fail. In the first five days I was on this diet all the craving stopped and I was already 8 lbs down. If you were like me and cannot wait for your next slice of cake and at the same time really want to change your lifestyle, Try this.

I absolutely like this cookbook! It is in fantastic condition and shipping was very quick. Can’t beat the price, either!
The TRUTH about Dr.Atkins death
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
It is astonishing to read the slam pieces here about Dr. Atkins so-called obesity and overweight condition at the time of his death. Here are the facts:
* He previously had a heart condition called cardiomyopathy — a serious disease of the heart muscle which is unrelated to diet.
* He died of a head injury because of an accident falling on slippery ice and not of being overweight.
* His actual weight was 200 pounds when he was admitted to the hospital at the time of his accident. The erroneous reports of him weight 258 lbs was based on his weight at the time of his death. The extra weight was not stout, but an accumulation of body fluids linked to organ failure during his coma.
* His previous reported heart attack was due to a viral infection and not diet related. He spoke openly of his condition on various national news programs.
* The report that was released about him being overweight was leaked to the press by a group named “Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine”, which is an ardent opponent of the Atkins diet. In small, they distorted his weight by reporting the weight at the time of death – 258 lbs, and not at the time of his admittance – 200 lbs…an obvious attempt to discredit and distort the facts surrounding Dr. Atkins death.
* A formal complaint has been filed by the Medical Examiner of New York regarding the suspicious leak of this information to the public by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.”
* The disinformation surrounding Dr.Atkins untimely death is politically driven by the AMA and other detractors of the diet.
Dr. Atkins book, New Diet Revolution has turned the AMA and other nutritional views upside down and has made a furor over the standard edicts of the medical profession. What is not said among the detractors of the Diet is that it is safe and it works. The information contained in this book will not only help you lose weight, it could save your life. The food industry, especially the bread and pasta industry have lost hundreds of millions of dollars because of the low carb revolution. Is it any wonder that this diet is under so much fire? Keep an open mind and read the book.
As a side note, ignor the mumbo-jumbo rantings and ravings of the “Elixir Diet” system (see below). The hatred and mis-information spread by the reviewer is evidence enough that the Elixir system is phony as a three cent penny. Nuff said. The guy hasn’t even read the Atkins book!
Nothing very new for a seasoned cook

I didn’t find much of particular interest in this book–a seasoned cook and reader of the former cook books by the Dr. Atkins group, I am sorry I invested in this one.
Amazingly excellent recipes
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The trick of dieting is to keep from being bored while being able to feed the non-dieters in the family something they won’t turn their noses up at. The Dr. Atkins cookbook certainly fills that bill.
I tried the garlic meatballs, putting them on a bed of steamed shaved zucchini to replace noodles, and they were well-received by all. There are some very wonderful appetizers (artichoke hearts in bacon wrap) and generally, these are flavorful recipes that keep the boredom away. Yes, I lost weight, which previously didn’t happen on other types of diets, so I give this a huge thumbs-up.
Ignore the ignorance of previous reviewers
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The Atkins diet is NOT perilous — when done correctly. People screw up on Atkins because they DON’T READ THE BOOK. They don’t know about the “induction” (lasts 2 weeks; a couple of days of light-headedness is normal while in transition) and then further phases; they don’t bother with the supplements that are crucial to Atkins success. They don’t realize the plot is “controlled carbs” not “no carbs.” Please ignore the ignorant remarks made by some others and get this fantastic recipe book — it’s a life-saver!
BEWARE
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
BEWARE!!! I know 2 people who have had fainting/passing out attacks and heart pains after being on the Atkins Diet. Be very, very careful what you are doing with this diet!! Neither were in terrible health or had previous problems….
Offers the variety you crave on Atkins!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
My husband and I both lost weight on Atkins but we were looking for recipes which could add a bit of variety to our daily menus, having already gone through tons of recipes both online and off. This book was just what we were looking for and had lots of vegetable recipes to fill in the basic meat, fish and other protein recipes.
Although it is right (as other reviewers have noted) that some of the recipes are a bit time-consuming, this isn’t right of many. Take the Cauliflower with Cumin sauce, for example – it takea less than 10 minutea and can be served hot or at room temperature (we even like it cold).
The sauce section of this book is a major plus, since you can simply makes most of these ahead of time and then keep them in the fridge till needed, a simple way to spice up everyday meals with a unique sauce. We’ve used the Basil-Pesto sauce on chicken and fish, impressed guests when we served beef with Walnut and Blue Cheese Butter and jazzed up green beans or broccoli with the Cilantro Butter.
We’ve used and re-used this one many times, even though we’ve had it less than 2 weeks!
There are better low carb cookbooks
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
There are only a few recipes that I liked in this book. I didn’t like the way it relied on artificial sweeteners, plus preserved meats (like bacon). But I guess that’s Atkins! There are a lot of better (and healthier) low carb cookbooks out there.
A fantastic resource for those following the Atkins program
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This cookbook is a fantastic resource for those following the Atkins program, and the tasty dishes in this book prove that one can eat normally and well while following “Atkins for Life” as my wife and I are. I am a lousy cook myself, but my wife is a fantastic one, and this book helped both of us prepare dishes consistent with the Atkins regime.
The Atkins program has proven itself in our household. I have come down from a 35 to a 31 waist in about 8 months, and I realized very significant and visible results during the first two months of being on the diet. My wife has experienced similar results. All of this occurred without that ghastly craving feeling that you get when you follow a low-calorie diet. By observing Atkins a person can eat well, experience a wonderful sense of high energy, and regain control over one’s diet and body. This cookbook is a fantastic resource in following the Atkins regime, since the one price of the Atkins concept is that you do have to pay attention to your carbohydrate intake. This cookbook is valuable for the recipes it contains, and perhaps more to the point, it helps educate the reader as to what kinds of ingredients are consistent with a low-carbohydrate diet. This had confused me when I first went on the diet and this cookbook was helpful in enabling me to know what kinds of ingredients to use in recipes, and also what kinds of dishes are OK to order in restaurants.
The Atkins program is a lifetime program which enables a person to stay thin without suffering or deprivation. The recipes in this book prove that Atkins is not all about eating bacon and other high stout foods. In fact, this book proves that Atkins is a healthy and sensible program that one can follow for life.
Some fascinating recipes.

Though I have my own diet plane I’ve prepared some of this books recipes and they were very excellent, I made most of the salads and the Paprika chicken is a regular for me. If you don’t live near some gourmet or specialty supermarkets you will loose half the recipes in the book. The chicken dishes were my favorites.
brilliant book; agree with last review
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have to agree with the last review. The ignorance of the other reviews clearly shows that they did not read Dr. Atkin’s books. It seems they have really missed the whole concept of how and why the diet works. There is plenty of fiber in this diet along with fruits and vegetables. It is a diet based on eating whole, unprocessed foods low in carbohydrates and higher in protein. The recipes in this book are wonderful, simple to make and very healthy for you. I have to admit, the induction period of Atkins is hard to maintain, but not impossible, especially with fantastic recipes to help you along.
Inconsistent Recipes – Forget the dessert section
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I was very keen to start using some of the recipes in this cookbook but have found very mixed results. The three dessert recipes I’ve tried are a cruel hoax, especially the brownies. They were basically inedible, even for my husband who never met a food he doesn’t like. He threw them away after tasting one. There are recipes which in the method section call for ingredients that aren’t listed in the ingredient section. One chicken dish calls for the dish to be baked for two hours, which would make it excellent for only the garbage. I would hardly call the spicy cauliflower recipe spicy. But, the goat cheese chicken breast rollup has become one of our favorites. If they could just remove the dessert section altogether and editorially fix the recipes that need to be, it would make it a much better cookbook.

My husband is “doing” Atkins, and this book is fantastic! It has wonderful recipes that ARE really quick and simple…
Revolutionary

I’ve been an on and off dieter all my life. This one worked for me and I’ve been able to keep the 20 pounds off with steady exercise Weight Watches was too complicated and I felt starved all the time. On this program I look forward to mealtime and feel very strong.
