Fantastic introduction to low carb lifestyle. But, if you want to know why, beyond just loosing weight, you must look at : Excellent Calories, Terrible Calories

I am going back to Atkins again. I was on this diet, dropping 30 pounds. My doctor said it was perilous, to get off. After gaining back the weight,(plus a few pounds more) I tried: Weight Watchers and Calories & Stout counting. I have just maintained a 10 pound up & down for three years. After reading that the Adkins diet was most effective in taking weight off, I am going back. I ordered the book because I threw my ancient book away.

I’m not sure about the health detriments, but this diet just didn’t work for me. In order for it to work properly you need to watch your intake and not over-do it. This isn’t a magic diet.

Brilliant book, simple to follow. I have lost 51 pounds following Atkin’s diet. This book will help me keep it off.

Excellent advice but a bit wishy-washy

Anyone who’s read the original Atkins Diet Revolution will get a bit of a shock when they skim through this book. It feels like more of a marketing effort, tailored to the mainstream, than traditional Atkins. They seem to have bowed to criticism a bit from the media and mainstream nutritionists.

That said, the book has a lot of excellent information and is very well organized. I just take it with a grain of salt (really potassium salt substitute).

    Why it works
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The reason Atkins is such a success is because it works and the reason it works is that you don’t starve yourself as in nearly every other diet. As a loyal follower, I can testify that if one follows the plot and guildelines presented in this book, it will be impossible not to lose weight.

And once you start, you will never again buy a coke without thinking, uh oh – 45 carbs, or eat a biscuit, drink juice, etc without thinking the same thing. The habit of lowfat eating has become ingrained in our system and it is with fantastic joy that I can now fix an egg, bite off a hunk of cheese, grill a steak and eat butter without guilt.

A general discussion of why the diet works is followed by the best feature of all – a listing of several foods from different groups in order of eat regularly, eat moderately and eat sparingly. A series of recipes is also included and many of these are quite tasteful. So cut out the fries, drop the buns, cut back on the skim milk, substitute the ice cream and eat.

I bought this book to go along with the Atkins diet book. This book is intended for people who have read the other small book detailing the Atkins diet plot. This book has a lot of excellent recipes and more indepth information on continuing your low carbs lifestyle but if your looking to start the Atkins diet then you need to buy the other book, I reckon its $5.85. Anyway, my husband and I have just started the Atkins diet and are right in the middle of the Induction Phase. It has been 6 days and he has lost 7 lbs and I have lost 6 lbs. I have to be honest and say it has been hard to give up sugar. The second day I got a horrible head ache, but tylenol took care of it and I have been wanting a huge ole baked potatoe something fierce!! But the weight loss is the motovation and stepping on the scale each morning and loosing one to two lbs is a fantastic feeling. My husband had to find a belt this morning to hold up his pants…that hasnt happened in a LONG time. I do have more energy and feel pretty excellent so far. I do recommend this book as it has a lot of excellent information for continuing your lowcarb lifestyle.

Soy is a huge part of Atkins. Get your misinformation from a small kid?

I was looking to shed about twenty pounds in a month or so, so I picked this up. It really helped me to know the essentials of low carb dieting and it really did help me jump start my weight loss. It’s a hard program to follow, but I found it does work, though I don’t reckon I’ll stay on it indefinitely. My friend recommended this book highly [...]

I found out that there isn’t any difference with Adkins for Life from the first book. Disappointing, I tried both with a group of folks from work and we all have had the same results. But, I never support anything unless I have been convinced it truly does what it says and I found that with “the average joes diet.” A friend told me about it and I was always considered the stout girl. No longer! and it’s stayed off.

For those who have begun the Atkins low-carb way, this book helps you maintain a lifestyle of weight and blood sugar management.

Sure this clarifies the diet but wanted info on the diet itself, not all the wheres and whys. It was a waste of money for me.
